What does it mean to be an emotionally resilient leader in today’s situation of Covid-19? With the world experiencing such an exponential shift in the way we communicate, it’s our job, in turn, to show up and adapt to the circumstances in order for our businesses to survive – but how do we do that?
Half of the battle is your attitude. The other half is simply showing up. Seriously.
Come in ready to lead your team. Come in thinking “this is my job, this is what I’m here to do.” Shift your attitude and mindset to get creative in ways you’d never thought possible. What other talents or skills do your team members have? How can we utilize these effectively? From there, show up prepared. Show up for others and your team. Show up ready to pivot. One of the hardest shifts may be the change in a process that previously worked for your business that led it to its success, though may no longer befitting for your new situation. From recognizing your new weaknesses, you must withstand the hardship for as long as needed until you’re able to take a deep breath, and focus on your recovery strategy. Here are a couple of things necessary to consider in your business during this pivoting season:
Think about the present and how your business, and even team, has shifted from simply only months ago. Maybe your team members have shifted their previous positions and are learning new skills and traits to adapt, or maybe you had to minimize the size for your team for the time being. These shifts are preparing you, as a leader, in evolving into something greater than you were to lead your future team to success.
