Most weddings these days either have a lounge area or some sofas for their guests to enjoy and get a little comfy. The best way to dress these pieces up is, of course, pillows! Everyone loves to plop down on a couch full of cozy, fluffy pillows. Controversial to popular belief, not all pillows have to be the same, you can gracefully mix and match your pillow rentals to create a cohesive homey experience.

1. Patterns:

Use an assortment of patterns with similar color schemes to create a dynamic look all while keeping it cohesive. Patterns from bold and defined geometric lines to softly raised patterns will go together as long as you stick with harmonious color palettes. Another option to consider if all the different patterns seem too much is to match each patterned pillow you have with a solid color one to create a better balance.

2. Size Matters:

Using varying shape and sizes of pillows are an excellent way to mix it up and add dimension. A good variety of square, rectangle, and even circle pillows with contrasting sizes will make this technique a success!

3. Texture:

Play with a range of textures to add to your look and warm up your design. There are so many fun textures to choose from like linen, velvet, and even pillows with tassels! Using texture is the perfect way to make a playful mix-matched creation.

4. Think About your Other Decor:

Always keep in mind your wedding color scheme, the venue, and all the other decor you have.  It’s important to remember what color and type of patterns they’re bringing in. By choosing similar and complementary colors you’ve grabbed from your surroundings, mix-matching will be a breeze and keep things cohesive.

5. Don’t Get Carried Away:

It’s very easy to get carried away when picking pillows because it’s hard not to have a crazy amount of favorites! With all the colors and fabrics it’s hard to narrow it down, but try your best to limit it down so that your pillows are visually interesting but leave enough room for your guests to relax without feeling too crowded.
