One of our favorite events to date is gODTalk! This was the first event where we were sought out specifically for our design, and it will forever go down as one of our favorite events in Render history! “gOD Talk” is a groundbreaking project spearheaded by the National Museum of African American History and Culture Center for the Study of African American Religious Life in collaboration with Pew Research Center. It seeks to create an opportunity for religious organizations and leaders, researchers, and engaged citizens to better understand the dynamic ways Black millennials engage with religion.
When the Smithsonian reached out, we were ecstatic! We had never been asked to do a project like this. They asked if we could create the set design with florals & rentals for the Dallas portion of the film. Not only was the set design fun to create, but the inspiration and meaning behind every detail was SO special. They had us source books written by Black authors, chose meaningful color palettes, and really had us focus on the details in order to create a set that was intentional and thoughtful.
One of our favorite details of the set was the fabric hangings with inspirational quotes by leading millennial voices. This included activists, entertainers, entrepreneurs, athletes, academicians, religious leaders, and politicians.
gODTalk made us realize that what we do is special. We loved having a piece in this film that touched so many! It really showed us that there is no limit to who we can work with and what we can do. And the best part is that our rentals get to play a part in someone’s story, and there is nothing better than that!
Joyfully,
