We all know how hot it can get here in Texas, especially in the months of July and August, and we all still want our wedding photographs to come out looking like we haven’t been in the blistering sun for hours. Well luckily today, we have a list of tips and tricks to keep you looking your best when getting through a summer photo shoot.
Honestly, the earlier you can get up, get ready, and start your shoot, the better. It tends to be significantly cooler in the earlier hours and you won’t have to worry about sweating and being uncomfortable nearly as much.
Also, if you’re planning on doing the majority of your shoot outdoors, the surroundings greenery, and flora arrangements tend to be more fresh the earlier it is, instead of looking wilted from sitting underneath the sun all day.
If your venue is in a place that is surrounded by lots of trees and woodlands, take advantage of the natural canopies and try some shots in the shade. When photographing in the shade it allows for some softer looking shots, which will add a nice variety to your ones that you do have in the sun.
Even when you are doing everything to avoid the heat and getting sweaty, it does still happen. Make sure to bring along your makeup bag and a mirror to be ready for touch ups and cover ups. You also may want to include some tissues or a cloth for blotting shiny skin.
Some photoshoots can lead to some messy situations, but you just have to have that specific shot. If you do end up getting a stain or blemish on your dress make sure you have some stuff on deck; a stain remover pen, white cotton towels or cloths, a bar of white soap, and we have even heard using baby powder works.
If you do sweat a lot and just being in the summer sun for 5 minutes will leave you drenched, there are some precautions you can take to help prevent it. Use some moisturizer the day before and day of to keep your face hydrated and less prone to perspiring. Use any kind of waterproof makeup you can. This will keep any sort of waterworks from ruining your makeup. Then lastly apply a finishing powder to help keep your face in place.
We hope that some of our tips were helpful and will keep you fresh and stress-free during your summer photoshoot.
