We had the joy of creating a floral installation for Mi Golondrina’s grand opening in Dallas, Texas.  This beautiful store has such an incredible mission and we were so excited when they asked us to be a part of it! See below for photos of the floral installation.

About Mi Golondrina

Mi Golondrina creates beautifully embroidered pieces handcrafted by Mexican artisans.  Today, Mi Golondrina partners with over 600 artisans from all over Mexico.  Each community utilizes its own specific technique for making its respective garments.  Whether weaving on a back strap loom, hand-pulling thread to create lace, or embroidering flowers by memory, the designs are indigenous to each community.   They represent the identity and culture of the people who made them. 

Most importantly, Mi Golondrina has paid these artisans fair wages since the beginning. This is a key component in their ability to build sustainable, lasting relationships with these artisan communities.  They work with them to collaboratively design new, modern styles that showcase the traditional embroidery techniques specific to each community.

With that being said, many of these artisans are able to provide a better life for their children and their families through the income they receive from the work they do.  Mi Golondrina continues to empower these artisan partners and their children to sustain these traditions for generations to come.  

 

Silk Floral Installation

We created this installation out of silk flowers so that they could keep it up for as long as they’d like! Silk flowers are a great alternative to fresh flowers if you are wanting the installation to last for months on end. With their branding being blue and white, we created an organic install in hues of blue.  Additionally, we added in branches as symbolism, as their logo is a swallow (otherwise known as a “golondrina.”)
