PIVOT is the buzzword of the year, and if you own a business in 2020, you know this to be especially true. It is a tough time, and while we recognize that and have been greatly affected by it, it’s also given us the opportunity to make some changes and grow as a company. 

Emily, of If I Made, and I sit down and chat through how we both have used this time to get uber intentional about our businesses and use past experiences to impact the success stories of our businesses. 

I want you to know that I totally understand where you are right now. How, because I am right there with you. I am also trying to figure out and navigate through all of what is going on in this world and come out on the other side a better business owner, leader of my business, designer, mom, and wife. It’s tough and if I am being transparent, it’s just a lot and too much sometimes. There are days where we have a fantastic day and days where I feel defeated by the mass postponements of events.

As we talked about in this episode, we each have been in business for 10+ years and we’re encouraged to reflect and see how each of our businesses has gone through uncertain times in the past, recessions, slow years, and downright tough months financially. Each of us has weathered a storm or two in our lifetime whether business-related or not and we’ve each come out on the other side wiser, more efficient, and with a new perspective. I have been right where you are and at the end of the day, I am still standing and not giving up. I know this is true because of the foundations I have built up in my business to lean back on the tools we have created to run a sustainable and profitable rental business. When you have a strong foundation and way that you run your business, when bad days and seasons come, you won’t be knocked down completely. And that’s just what this time is, it is a season. Someday, hopefully soon, the pandemic will fade and become a blink in history and businesses will pick back up again. I know that with this season of slowness, it is the perfect time to reflect and make some changes in your business for the long haul.
